Wolcott – Current State Representative Rob Sampson has received the unanimous endorsement of the Republican Party for his run for the 16th Senate District this November.  The convention was held on May 14, 2018 at East Street Eatery in Wolcott.  The16th Senate District includes Southington, Wolcott, Prospect, and parts of Cheshire and Waterbury.  Representative Sampson is currently serving his fourth term in the state House of Representatives.  He is the chairman of the legislature’s Conservative Caucus, and the Ranking Republican on the Insurance & Real Estate committee.

Current State Senator and now endorsed GOP candidate for Lt. Governor, Joe Markley nominated Sampson in a speech highlighting their friendship and common goals.  In his acceptance speech for the nomination, Sampson recognized Markley’s contributions and vowed to carry on their efforts to promote fiscal responsibility, the protection of civil liberties, and the value of the Constitution in our state government.  Sampson said he has become much more proactive during his tenure and plans to continuing teaching that the “Republican way” is a better choice for fixing Connecticut.  “Thank you for putting your trust in me to carry the torch for our party in this race this November.  I will continue to work hard advocating for our principles and I will continue keeping my promises.” Sampson said during his speech.

Sampson is lifelong Republican who believes in limited government, personal responsibility and fiscal accountability.  For more information, visit www.sampsonforct.com.
